You are advised to conduct your research and choose the campus and programmes you would like to study before applying for the award or attending the interview.

7. How many awards are offered? What is the eligibility requirement for the award?
There is no fixed number of the awards offered. Candidates will be awarded if they successfully meet the criteria of:
  • Outstanding academic achievement
  • Exceptional leadership qualities and achievements through active involvement in extracurricular activities and/or sports
  • Excelled in the interview

8. Why am I required to write an essay?
The essay is part of the criteria to be eligible for the award. The essay enables the selection committee to get to know you beyond your academic achievements and activities listed on the application. It provides you with the opportunity to make a strong and lasting impression by demonstrating your intellectual abilities, communication and analytical skills. In addition, it is an invaluable learning experience for you, a sneak preview of how it is like when you write your future personal statement for university application.

9. How will I know if I am successful?
The Committee will firstly send you an email and/or SMS notification to inform you about the details of the Experience Day, where you will get to experience how it is like to study at Taylor’s Pre-U, and meet past Principal’s Award recipients. The Experience Day (4 Aug at TCSJ) is open to all Principal’s Award applicants.

If you have been shortlisted for an interview, the Committee will notify you within 2-3 weeks from the application closing date. You will be required to attend the interview session held at a town nearest to you. Kindly check your email regularly.

For regular updates and other happenings, you are advised to log onto www.taylors.edu.my, Taylor’s Pre-U Facebook or our blogs (http://principalsawards2013.blogspot.com and http://tcshawards2013.blogspot.com).

10. If I am not successful, can I make an appeal?
The Committee’s decision is final.

We advise you to look forward and apply to the other scholarships offered by Taylor’s College, i.e. the Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Loy Hean Heong Merit Scholarship (TSL Scholarship) which offers a maximum award of RM 18,000. The TSL scholarship will be awarded in March / April 2013 to students who have enrolled in the January 2013 Intake. The application for the TSL Scholarship is made using the actual SPM / O Level results (once the results are released). As it is a merit scholarship, you will automatically qualify and no interviews are required.

Similarly, the Top Achievers’ Award invites Taylor’s College students who have enrolled in the March or July 2013 intake to apply. There is a maximum award of RM 10,000 for the Top Achievers’ Award, based in your actual SPM / O Level results.

11. If I have received another scholarship, am I still eligible for the Principal's Awards? Can I receive more than one scholarship?
No, you are only allowed to be the recipient of one scholarship award. If you decide to accept this award, you must release yourself from any other scholarships you are currently holding.

12. If I am selected to attend the National Service, can I delay my intake?
Yes, you may defer your intake by submitting a written request attached with relevant supporting documents. If you have been selected for the National Service, you may request a letter from Taylor’s College to defer (i.e. postpone) the National Service.

13. Can I still apply if I did not meet the minimum requirement of 6As in my recent examination?
Yes, you may still apply if you have been obtaining good academic results in your Form 4 or Grade 10. Kindly attach your Form 4 results for our verification. In addition, another criteria that we consider is your extra-curricular track record and the leadership positions you have held. This will give you added advantage.

14. Will my scholarship be retracted if I don’t do well in my SPM / O Levels (below 6As)?
No, your scholarship will not be retracted. However, we advise that you continue to focus on your Pre-University studies and obtain good results for entry into the university of your choice.

15. Will the award be withdrawn if I don’t do well in the Pre-University programme?
Yes, recipients of the award are required to be actively engaged and demonstrate leadership qualities by participating in the Leadership Programme.

16. If I am not selected by my school, can I apply directly to the College?

    1. Hi,
Not to worry if you don't have any certificates with you. You may list the activities on a piece of paper and have it endorsed by the clubs and societies at your school to confirm your participation in those activities.
